REHABILITATION OF CONCRETE WATER IMPERMEABILITY
KALMATRON® KF-G IN A HURSH DESERT ENVIRONMENT
The team of Mojave Aqueduct of LAWPD was looking for the solution to restore strength and impermeability of 40 years old concrete slabs covering canal of Aqueduct at 60 miles long. First possible way is coating of old concrete by some concrete layer was rejected as low efficient because of sun heat and desert wind will destroy it in a few years before whole project will be accomplished.
Another known technique is changing of old slabs on new ones was not even reviewed as economically unacceptable. Properties of KALMATRON® KF-G are well known for healing of shrinkage and structural cracks of moderately aged concrete.
For this case we decided to provide field experiment to prove impermeability restoration of severely aged concrete.
KF-G was applied in accordance with the standard instruction as a water solution spilled on the concrete surface
(A) and water + cement slurry applied with trowel to spread
slurry as a thin coat (B) and (C).
KF-G + cement + water slurry.
KF-G + cement + water slurry.
After 6 months equal amount of water has been spilled onto the spots (A), (B), (C) and original concrete surfaces nearly to the them. Actually, concrete sorption ability is reduced till its best data.
In less than 10 minutes water spots were absorbed by the original concrete surface. Onto the spots of (A), (B), and (C) water spots were stable to absorption and well observed despite on 100 F desert Sun heat.
Even after an hour the spots of water were seen onto the areas of (A), (B), and (C) of concrete indicating concrete restored impermeability.

CONCRETE REHABILITATION SPRAY for renovation of concrete rheology by closing of shrinkage cracks, restoration of strength & impermeability by
recalcination of cement rock with spray of 0.25 ÷ 0.35 Kg of KF-G dissolved with 1 Liter of water on 0.65 ÷ 1 m2 of surface.
Inventions of the 21-st Century
How it really works? Sprayed KF-G accelerates process of cement gel
crystallization with almost immediate results in concrete impermeability,
reduction of sorption ability and later in strength and abrasion resistance.

After 2 hours water is still there.
